We spent a delightful evening/night in Montalcino. We found it to be a quiet and immediately likeable place. And they make excellent wines, Brunello being the best of the best.
An evening walk brought us to this church at the top of the town.
This view is looking down on the plains from a vantage point in the hill-top town.
Fog had rolled into the valleys and plains and we were treated to a marvelous sunset as we looked down to the clouds below and up to the clouds above. Occasionally another hill-top town would poke above the lower clouds.
