Going up the mountain highway from Dayton is one of my favorite motorcycle roads, with wonderful new pavement, wide paved shoulders that eliminate gravel on the road, and lots of nice sweeping corners. After we turn south at Burgess Junction we enter the most scenic part of the Byway, going over Granite Pass at 9,033 feet elevation and into Shell Canyon.
